3 Necessary Accessories for Your Work Truck

I see work trucks on the road all the time now.  Many are startup or home-based businesses — I can always tell because often the truck isn’t in as good shape.  Sometimes it’s really old, and it usually doesn’t have all the same truck accessories that you expect to see on a professional work truck.

Unfortunately, this screams out a lack of professionalism to all your customers. If you are starting your own contractor business, don’t make the same mistake with your work truck.  Here are a couple of things you might need.

  • A truck bedliner to protect the bed if you are using a pickup truck.  Hauling stuff in your bed will quickly scratch through your paint, not only looking crappy but also leaving the bed vulnerable to rust.  You have two basic choices for bed liners — tough spray coating, or custom molded heavy-duty plastic liners.
  • A ladder rack to help you haul stuff more easily in your bed.  Go Rhino is a popular brand for racks, among other things.  For instance, their QuickRack is easy to install and provides a safe way to haul materials and equipment.
  • Truck boxes or tool boxes for storing tools safely in the bed without having to worry about them being stolen.  A truck’s cab is only so big, and can’t be counted on to provide enough storage room, but truck boxes help you turn your bed space into secure storage space!

Having a nice, properly outfitted work truck demonstrates your professionalism and reflects on your ability to get the job done right.  Don’t skimp on this important aspect of your business!
