Blast from the Past Jobs

A group of my friends and I were chatting over dinner the other night and the topic came around to the jobs that we each held before we were the professional adult employees that we have come to be. Talking about those jobs made me so nostalgic for those old times even though I realize that I am looking at them in retrospect through rose-colored glasses.
For example, I started reminiscing about the days when I worked as a lifeguard and swim coach at the local pool. That led into a vacation job one summer when I got to give swimming lessons in Miami to young kids. I do remember that I hated going to those Miami swimming classes. All of the kids seemed like brats and I didn’t really get paid very well and I didn’t even like Miami that much. But looking back, I kind of had this nostalgic feeling that it wasn’t so bad and that a job like that would seem so nice right now.
I guess what happens is that the challenge and stress of professional careers combined with the time that passes between college jobs and adult life makes it so that those jobs seem a lot better than they really were.
