Ramp up your information security education

I’ve wanted to increase my computer security knowledge base and skills base for awhile now and have recently begun to look in earnest for ways to ramp up my information security education. I want to be able to not only have the skills but also be ale to demonstrate to others such as customers and potential employers that I have certain skill sets that will set me apart from the rest. So I am looking to take the Certified Information Systems Security Professional exam next year, and I really want to get myself as prepared as possible for it.

My first step in my CISSP education was to get my hands on a bunch of Security Certified Network Professional books and start reading. I’ve been averaging about 20 pages a day - there’s an ungodly amount of information to take in, digest and try to remember. It’s definitely been helping, but I’m going to go a step further and invest in what I’m sure will be a worthwhile boost in the long run for when it comes time for me to take the CISSP exam.

For this next step, I found a really neat CISSP boot camp which looks to be as intense and comprehensive as it sounds and I have no doubt that between my reading and the things I’ll learn inside out at the boot camp, I’ll have my CISSP certification and all the skills to keep me ahead of the game in no time.
