Getting Through a Divorce

Divorce is difficult and puts both an emotional and a financial strain on a family, especially one with kids. Luckily, there are ways you can make divorce easier on both your family and your wallet.
First of all, a divorce will be easiest for everyone involved if it is both fast and straightforward. This means not dragging it out in a long, bitter court battle. If your divorce is totally amicable, and you have the ability to come to an agreement with your spouse, do-it-yourself divorces are fast and cheap.
Of course, not everyone can do this, but that doesn’t mean that everyone needs to battle it out in court, either. You’ll find that divorce mediation is a more affordable option than going to court, and usually gets the job done faster, too. You’ll find plenty of these types of services by Googling for your area and divorce mediation — for instance, “Arizona mediation.”
Another advantage to do-it-yourself divorce or divorce mediation is that it’s less stressful on everyone if you and your spouse aren’t fighting over who gets the toaster. Something else you might want to consider is getting a little bit of divorce counseling to help everyone get through this in one piece — particularly if there are children involved.

Actually, if you ARE fighting over the toaster, an experienced, skilled mediator can actually help you with that—-much less expensive than going to court and faster, too. So mediators are great even for high conflict families.
