Celebrity Drug Problem Epidemic

The presence of scandal in Hollywood is not a new development. For more than half a century, the biggest stars in the world have been under the biggest microscope in the world, and while many of them have gotten away relatively unscathed – with bikini clad photos or personal arguments plastered all over supermarket tabloids, others have fallen victim to the foibles of drug addiction. The tabloids are almost always cycling through one or another movie star, teen starlet, or ex-child star’s battles, going in and out of drug rehab repetitively.

And in recent years, the explosion of the post teen-star party culture has claimed some of the one-time largest child stars in the world – the likes of Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears. The rumors of cocaine addiction and additional drug problems swirl like dust clouds around these one time mega stars and have made them into social pariahs and regular fixtures on the covers of America’s favorite supermarket tabloid covers. Partially, we have to take a little responsibility for their fall from grace, constantly worshipping and enabling their view of the world, but mostly it is a result of a jaded, glass-box view of the world – one in which nothing actually affects them because of their fame status. It is sad.
