Everyone is different in what they look  for in a home.  My dream home would…

• Be somewhere sunny.  I grew up in Colorado, where you see the sun all the time, so I prefer areas such as the American  Southwest and the West Coast.  I might consider San Diego County real estate, but no way would I live in, say, Seattle!
• Have a beautiful home office with lots of natural light.  I work from home, so a home office is important to me.  I like a sunny office, though, so a basement office or a north-facing office won’t work.  Therefore well-designed live work space in Carlsbad, for instance, would be really appealing to me.
• Have horse property.  This is where we eliminate 99 percent of the homes that meet the first two criteria: I have to have someplace where I can keep my horse.  I have been boarding him elsewhere for three years now, and not only is it expensive, but it also means that I have much less time to spend with him, because I have to account for the drive back and forth to the boarding facility.

There you have it — my dream house.
