Multi-Cultural Weddings

One of the best weddings that I’ve ever attended was my friend Kelly’s wedding. The reason it was so great was because it included customs from each couple’s cultural backgrounds. Both of them have several different cultures in their bloodline. There were probably half a dozen different traditions included in the wedding. It was interesting and fun!
I only remember a few of the different traditions that were included. I know that they got Claddagh wedding rings to honor the Celtic side of her family. They also did a traditional ceremonial dance with swords to show respect for the Japanese side of his family. There were some other things included as well although I don’t recall specifically what they were.
I do remember that the food at this wedding was amazing. I normally don’t like wedding food. It’s boring and bland and not worth whatever the couple paid to feed everyone. This time was different though. They had homemade dishes representing every part of their respective cultures. It was delicious! I think this should be a feature of every multi-cultural wedding. And I think the multi-cultural wedding is something that wedding planners should think more about because it’s becoming increasingly common to get married in this way.
