Technophobe Anonymous

I am afraid of technology. When I finally learn how to use a new piece of equipment, a new or better replacement comes to the marketplace. Relying on my typewriter through college, it was difficult for me to embrace the concept of emails and instant messaging. Once computers became more common, it took a while to transition from WordPerfect to Microsoft Office and from interoffice mail to communicating via blackberry.
Learning to use my cell phone was probably the most challenging and took me the longest to embrace. I was always forgetting to recharge my cell phone batteries. I’d walk around for days wondering why no one was calling me to later learn that I had days of messages in my inbox waiting for me to use my cellular phone chargers to recharge my battery. My boss got my co-workers and me comet series headsets for Christmas and it took me until Flag Day to use it without disconnecting the other caller. I have yet to complete a text message in less than ten minutes because I tend to forget how to use a key pad when using that form of communication. Admittedly, I am a technophobe and hope they stop inventing new technologies so I can catch up and learn how to use the equipment and devices I already own.
