Machu Picchu in South America
Have you noticed that a lot of people tend to be heading south, or leaning toward tropic getaways for their honeymoons these days?
For instance, a friend of mine who is getting married next month is going to South America for her honeymoon, where there are ruins and things to explore — plenty to do. My sister, likewise, is going to Fiji for diving after her wedding, later the same month.
It seems like these types of adventure honeymoons — with exploring, snorkeling and scuba diving, etc. — are becoming pretty popular. My husband and I, however, actually opted out of the Fiji honeymoon when we got married two years ago — instead, we stayed at a favorite resort of mine in Pennsylvania. It wasn’t exotic or anything, but it was fun!
Would I do it all over? Yes, you bet. I had a great time on our honeymoon. But that’s not to say I don’t ever want to go to places like Fiji and South America. I do very much want to go. We went to England earlier this year, as sort of a second anniversary celebration, so maybe we can make it someplace more tropical next year!
